AMF Frame Series
engineered to withstand any environment. designed to suite any application.
Built for a Lifetime
– Handmade –
The AMF steel window and door frame series offers a stirring visual and long-lasting experience in any material or finish, creating a striking impression in all interior or exterior applications. AMF’s signature features and superior durability mirror that of our renowned thermally broken steel EBE frame series; with the exception of not having an integrated thermal break. Thus, the AMF series is the ideal solution for projects in which a thermal break is not as crucial as the ability to create monumental fixed or operable window and door systems in even the harshest of environments and within budget. With the AMF steel window and door series, you can be sure that you are getting nothing less than the world-class quality and unsurpassed long-term reliability that comes along with owning a handcrafted TBSTM window or door.
Window & Door Configurations
Glazing Bead Styles
As with the rest of the frames in our signature collection, the AMF series boasts limitless customization and aesthetic appeal with 6 unique glazing bead styles. These include; Square (offered in five depths: 3/8″, 5/8″, 13/16″, 15/16″, & 1 3/8″), Rounded, Gothic, J Shaped, Sloped, and Thin. Each one of our glazing bead styles are available in matching material types and finishes to blend seamlessly with your AMF frame. In addition to our ability to roll form almost any custom bead shape, all true divided beads styles have corresponding simulated divided bead and muntin profiles which makes tailoring the AMF steel window and door frame series to your project almost effortless.
Material Options
Our AMF steel frame series offers the same material and finish options as our thermally broken EBE steel frame series. From left to right, the five (5) materials available are: Hot-Dipped Galvanized Steel with a Powder Coated finish (textured, metallic, marine grade and custom colors available), Architectural Bronze (numerous patinas available), Stainless Steel (AISI 304 or AISI 316L Marine Grade), Cor-Ten (numerous patinas available), and brand New in 2016 is our Raw Steel (a.k.a. Blackened Steel) which is available in a numerous hand-rubbed patinas.
Assembly Overview
The AMF series was inspired by two demands: relentless integrity and cost savings compared to our signature thermally broken steel window and door frames. The result is a system that truly has no equal in the non-thermally broken steel industry. Referring to the detail to the left, let’s explore the components that make this system so hard to beat. (a) Glazing pocket for a Glass thickness up to 1 9/16” (40mm), (b) Glazing Bead and EPDM gasket – the Square Bead is shown, (c) Exterior Rebated EPDM sealing gasket with dedicated groove and weep system, (d) tightly cold formed steel profiles, and (e) Interior EPDM sealing gasket with dedicated groove.
Narrow Sight-line
Our entire steel window and door frame collection was designed to feature minimalist elegance without compromising the integrity or resilience of the frames – AMF is no exception to this. As shown in the cross sectional drawing on the right, the AMF fixed frame has a sight-line of 1 ¾” (45mm) and the AMF casement frame has a sight-line of 3 3/16” (81mm). Cutsheets and Elevations for the AMF series will be added to our Resource page shortly.
Sound Insulation
A window or door’s ability to resist airborne sound transfer at frequencies between 125 Hz 4000 Hz is compared utilizing the STC Rating (Sound Transmission Class) which is measured in decibels (dB). Such ratings are used for windows and doors to quantify the amount of “noise” transmitting through them. Therefore, STC ratings are the only legitimate way to compare the noise reduction abilities for a particular window or door. It is crucial to remember that a higher STC rating corresponds to a higher quality of noise isolation (the ability to stop sound waves from passing through a certain partition). Typical aluminum window and door systems yield an average STC rating between 20 to 31 where as our steel window and door systems maintain a superior STC rating between 40 and 55.
